Judy Bornstein is a certified mediator and an experienced ombuds and conflict/negotiation coach with 20+ years helping organizations address the challenges and conflicts inherent in growing, managing, and even winding down businesses. She has worked extensively as a CFO and Chief Compliance Officer and brings her business acumen to her work helping organizations navigate conflict.
Judy successfully advocates for optimal outcomes within and between organizations, including assisting companies come to resolution with outside service providers and vendors, brokering agreements inside organizations both within and across functions, and assisting companies and individuals in salary and compensation agreements. A skilled negotiator, she has particular expertise in finance and compliance issues, working within complex organization and entity structures.
She is ethical, poised, and skilled at building relationships across all levels, bringing her acute listening skills and perseverance to conflict and dispute resolutions.
Judy holds a Masters in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law, where she received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for highest rank in over 70% of her classes, and an MBA from Simmons University in Boston, where she graduated first in her class. She received her certification in mediation from the San Francisco Bar Association.
In addition to her business, financial, and mediation training, Judy has completed additional coursework in Negotiation, Arbitration, Online Dispute Resolution, Restorative Justice, Managing High Conflict Individuals, Decision Making in Conflict, Conflict Coaching, Ombuds, Cross Cultural Conflict and Dispute Resolution, Apology, Forgiveness and Reconciliation, Dispute Systems Design, and Non-Violent Communication.
Judy serves on the SF Bar Association Mediation Panel and on the Arbitration Panel for FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). She is a regular mediator for the Congress of Neutrals where she mediates court cases in Contra Costa County. Judy also co-facilitates a Transformative Mediation group inside San Quentin State Prison, where she offers mediation and conflict resolution training to incarcerated men interested in non-violent conflict resolution.
